Frequently asked questions
Do I need internet just to stream, or also to use the app?
Activating the license does need internet, once. Streaming doesn't depend on Muxlyve's cloud — the signal is forwarded directly from your machine to each platform.
Why does TikTok ask to reconnect the key so often?
It's a limitation of TikTok's platform, not Muxlyve's: the stream key TikTok issues regenerates every ~2 hours.
Does it work with vMix, N.Air or any other encoder?
Yes. Muxlyve isn't an OBS plugin — it receives any RTMP signal, wherever it comes from.
Does my stream quality drop from forwarding to 4 platforms?
No. Muxlyve uses -c copy: it forwards the signal without re-encoding, with minimal CPU load.
Can I set a bitrate limit on a destination?
Yes, it's optional. On each destination's card you can expand "Max bitrate (kbps) — optional" and set a cap. As long as your actual bitrate stays below it, Muxlyve keeps forwarding without re-encoding. Only if it stays above the limit does it re-encode that specific destination to bring it down to the cap. With no limit set, it never re-encodes.
Does it warn me if a destination drops while I'm doing something else?
Yes. If you have another window or a game in the foreground and a destination drops, Muxlyve sends a native operating-system notification (not an in-app alert). On some Linux distros without a notification daemon this may not be available — it fails silently, it doesn't break the app.
Does Muxlyve run on Linux?
Today the app is available for Windows and macOS. Linux is on the roadmap, but not confirmed yet.
Where do I report a bug?
"Report an issue" button inside the app — it attaches the logs automatically. If you'd rather not use that, write to us directly at soporte@muxlyve.app.
